Rob Mayo
September 26, 1960 - June 11, 2012

Rob Mayo, Manager and devoted Caretaker of St. Felix Catholic Center in Huntington, left this world on Monday, June 11th 2012, after being fatally injured in a motorcycle accident. Rob was a very dear friend to the Franciscan Brothers Minor and the Community of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese.
He will be greatly missed.

Eternal rest, grant unto him O’Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon him
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the Mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

Dominican Sisters of Mary come to St. Felix Catholic Center

A Note of Appreciation

We want to thank all those that have helped us over the course of the renovation of this historic place, and many of you continue to help us. This has become a shared labor of love for all of us, drawn from a deep love of Christ, Holy Mother Church, and a desire to keep the Capuchin history alive in our area, and offer the community a unique place for retreats with simplicity and few distractions.

We especially want to thank His Excellency Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades.  Without his support, guidance and encouragement for this project, we would have never been able to see it to its completion.  The Bishop and his office continue to be so supportive in helping us move forward and organize the Center, so that it may be a key place to function and support the Catholic community whenever needed.  Knowing his deep love for St. Francis, and the Franciscan way of life, we see this as a clear sign that this was a gift given to all of us by the Holy Spirit.  Thank You, Bishop Rhoades!

Excerpts from a recent letter from our Bishop:

“I am deeply grateful to you since such a facility was very much needed. I have encouraged Catholic groups to check out the facility for retreat and conference activities.”

Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades - in a letter to John Tippmann Sr., Chairman of the Foundation

Fr. Ron Rieder, O.F.M., Cap. has been a Capuchin for over 50 years.  He had the blessing  of knowing Fr. Solanus Casey while living at St. Felix Friary.  Fr. Ron has been instrumental in our efforts to restore the Monastery back to its original grandeur.  His first hand knowledge and love for this place has been a tremendous grace from God.  Fr. Ron continues to help us when he can and is the Pastor of Ss. Peter & Paul Parish just minutes away from us.  Thank you Fr. Ron!

Fr. David Mary, F.F.M., who has lived a Capuchin life for over 25 years, is now the Minister General of the Franciscan Brothers Minor.  He and his brothers have been a great source of help from the beginning.  Always readily available to help us in whatever is needed, whether it be cleaning moving furniture, etc. the brothers are always there to help.
Fr. David has guided us in so many ways and continues to be a great support in helping us understand the Capuchin Charism.
Thank You Fr. David Mary!
